Fan favorite Derpy Hooves will be the San Diego Comic Con 2012 exclusive pony! Not only is this the first Generation 4 pony exclusive at Comic Con, but it's also one of the most talked about ponies because of the controversy surrounding the character!
Controversy is brewing over "Derpy Hooves", a favorite background pony
from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The complaint is that the pony appears to
make fun of people with disabilities. While none of this is probably intentional by the animators and story-tellers, it makes for an interesting controversy (which usually is absent from My Little Pony episodes!The little grey pegasus first appeared in the background of the first episode, and due to an animation error had eyes pointing in two different directions. Fans noticed the filly, and assigned her characteristics based upon her goofy appearance, christening her "Derpy Hooves" and assigning her ditzy qualities. A few people questioned whether equating a wall-eyed appearance with ditziness or stupidity was offensive; a few more pointed out that the term "derp" might be a slur against people with disabilities. However, despite these minor rumblings, the pony became a fan favorite.
