Robot NINE by Rumble Monsters

One of my favorite collectible toys (Robot NINE) is produced by a Japanese company called "Rumble Monsters." Not only are these well made, well painted and incredibly limited, but they combine a classic vintage Robot-look with the touches of the modern Japanese vinyl kaiju world. Each Robot NINE figure costs about 6,800 yen (approx $80). They feature 5 to 7 points of articulation.   

Robot NINE "Delta 01" just released today (December 24). They won't last long, they never do! Most figures are extremly limited. While production numbers aren't officially released, I can't imagine them being more that 100-ish. Perhaps far less!

Avengers Pop! Vinyl by Funko

Funko continues to amaze with their combination of "cute" and "fun" and "manly" (OK, that's not the right way to say it, but you get the point...) Funko announced they will be releasing "Avengers" plush and vinyl figures.  They will be available on March 15, 2012. Pop! Vinyl figures include Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and Nick Fury.  Plush figures series 1 include: Captain America, Thor and Iron Man.

New Avengers Minimates

Marvel Minimates Wave 44 (coming Spring 2012) will include four 2-packs:
- Iron Man (Heroes Return armor) and Captain America
- Hulk (Pantheon) and Thor (Heroes Return)
- Ant-Man/Giant-Man and a Kree Sentry
- Ant Man II (Scott Lang) and a Kree Sentry

With the recent announcement that Lego will be releasing Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit construction sets, I thought it would be appropriate to take a trip down memory lane and highlight the LOTR Playmates Intelli-blox. Each set was well made and created great playability for LOTR fans. The sets are still reasonably priced but grow harder to find each year. I don't think very many of these were made and were probably short-printed after poor sales caused the line to be canceled. Five sets were made: "Buckleberry Ferry Escape" , "The Mines of Moria" , "Battle at Weathertop" , "Isengard Caverns" , "The Prancing Pony"

Ebay Item of the Day

This is a very interesting collectible from a few year's ago. Released exclusively at Star Wars Celebration Japan each "egg" contains 2 bottle caps that also double as pins. Check it out! 

Muppets x Star Wars x Disney

I love Muppets... I love Star Wars... I love (wish I could afford to go to) Disney World...


Star Wars Muppets action figures have arrived at Walt Disney World parks.
The sets consist of:
- Kermit as Luke and Miss Piggy as Leia
- Fozzie as Chewbacca and Link Hogthrob as Han
- Beaker as C-3PO and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew as R2-D2 (my favorite of the figures!!)
- Sam the Eagle as Obi-Wan and Gonzo as Darth Vader (bonus figure of Camilla the Chicken as a Stormtrooper)


Each set retails for $19.95 and appear to be very well made. And while I'm thinking about it... go see the new Muppet Movie again! Hilarious!

Lego and Lord of the Rings!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Lego will be releasing Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themed sets in 2012! Here is the official announcement:

Consumer Products and The LEGO Group announced today (Dec 16, 2011) a partnership that awards the world’s leading construction toy brand exclusive rights to develop build-and-play construction sets based on THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ trilogy and the two films based on THE HOBBIT™. The multi-year licensing agreement grants access to the library of characters, settings, and stories for THE LORD OF THE RINGS property, as well as films The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. LEGO® THE LORD OF THE RINGS construction sets are slated for a rolling global launch beginning in June 2012 in the The LEGO THE LORD OF THE RINGS collection will translate into LEGO form the epic locations, scenes and characters of Middle-earth as depicted in all three films, including The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
